Today we learned how to say "I have" and several phrases in French that use this term.

J'ai = I have
Tu as = you have

J'ai peur--I have fear (or I'm afraid)
J'ai froid -- I have cold (or I'm cold)
J'ai chaud -- I have hot (or I'm hot)
J'ai sommeil -- I have sleepiness (or I'm tired)
J'ai mal... -- (I have pain, or I hurt, as in J'ai mal a la tete, I have a headache)
J'ai faim -- I have hunger (or I'm hungry)
J'ai soif -- I have thirst (or I'm thirsty)
J'ai ... ans -- (I have ... years, or I'm ... years old).
This answers the question, "Quel age as-tu?" What age go you have, or How old are you?
