We talked about the different of saying you like something and wanting something in French.
When you like something in a general sense, you use le/la
J'aime le fromage.
J'aime la glace.
When you want something, you say you want some of it and use the partitive, or "de" form:
Je veux du fromage.
Je veux de la glace.
In class we created a pizza and then worked on the following assignments:
1) Make your own pizza
Choose 10 toppings and categorize them in one of two columns:

Of the things you like, finish the sentence:

1) On discute la fete--extra credit opportunity le 15 fevrier. Bring something to eat to class for party to celebrate, le chandeleur, mardi gras, Tet, and le jour de St. Valentine. We need:
crepes, gateau des rois (http://www.holidays.net/mardigras/cake.htm), chocolat, boissons (drinks), cups plates & forks.
2) l'euro--we discussed the currency used in France and other countries in Europe. Wednesday we will have European visitors to talk about l'Union Europeenne (European Union) and answer your questions.
We practiced the phrases "Combien coute" (how much does something cost). "Ca coute" (it costs)
3) vocab practice--Word search (online at http://www.liberty.issaquah.wednet.edu/Teachers/BoschkerK/Handouts.htm)

Menus and vocab graphic organizers are due Monday.
Graphic organizers will be graded as follows:
Au cafe et au restaurant--should be filled in French & English, 60 words from vocab list in appropriate boxes (15 points) and 10 images (5 points)
La nourriture--should be filled in French & English, 40 words from vocab list in appropriate boxes (15 points) and 10 images (5 points)
